Authorities from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s department reported a deputy was injured during a traffic accident.
The incident happened when Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Deputy Yvette Hibbard on patrol in a police cruiser near the intersection of Panther Trace blvd. and Balm Riverview Rd. At roughly three in the morning, a vehicle crashed into Deputy Hibbard’s car from the driver side causing sever damage. Deputy Hibbard’s vehicle was so badly damaged that responders were forced to use hydraulic equipment to pry open the car.
Deputy Hibbard was transported to Tampa General Hospital for treatment. Authorities have not released the identity of the other driver.
The crash remains under investigation.
