A report from the Florida Highway Patrol announced a deadly hit-and-run accident in St. Petersburg.

The report states that the victim, identified only as a sixty two year old bicyclist from St. Petersburg, had been cycling on Ulmerton Road heading west approaching the intersection with 58th Street North.

Despite wearing a reflective vest and riding in the bike lane, at approximately five thirty in the morning the cyclist was hit by an unidentified vehicle, causing them to enter the roadway. After being struck by the first vehicle, the cyclist was hit again by a full sized GMC sport utility vehicle driven by thirty year old Michael Flores from Trinity.

The cyclist died as a result of their injuries. FHP has stated than an investigation is ongoing.
