Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office announced a fatal motorcycle accident that occurred Thursday evening.
The crash happened as twenty four year old Armaletha Wesley rode her 2015 motorcycle heading south on 49th St. S. Authorities stated Wesley was in the median and closing on the intersection with Jersey Avenue South.
At the same time Gulfport native, fifty one year old Ronald Hillman was driving east on Jersey Avenue South in a full-sized 2006 Chevy Trailblazer SUV, also approaching the intersection with 49th St. S. and Jersey Ave. S.
As Hillman neared 49th St. South, he attempted to turn into northbound lanes of 49th Street and drove directly into the path of the oncoming motorcyclist. The Motorcycle and the SUV crashed and Wesley, who was not wearing a helmet suffered life-threatening injuries.
As Wesley was being taken to an area hospital she succumbed to her injuries.
Hillman, the driver of the SUV was nit hurt in the crash.
