Authorities in St. Petersburg announced a deadly crash involving four vehicles on Howard Franklin Bridge.

The crash took place in the early morning hours as thirty one year old Spring Hill resident, Lindsay Larsh drove her 2008 Corolla compact sedan northbound on Howard Franklin Bridge.

At roughly 4:45 a.m. Larsh encountered a furniture dolly in the roadway and turned sharply to avoid hitting the object. However Larsh crossed  into the middle lane of the roadway from the outside lane and collided with an RV being driven by sixty four year old Pierre Clement.

After hitting the RV, the force of the impact redirected Larsh’s Corolla causing it to impact the median. After being hit by the Corolla, the recreational vehicle swerved and impacted a Ford F-150 pick up truck being driven by Tampa resident Oswald Caines. The force of the collision with the RV caused the pick up truck to roll over onto the roadway.

Swerving to avoid the initial accident the unknown driver of a Maserati struck the F-150 pickup truck and then came to rest on the shoulder. The driver of the Maserati left the scene and has not yet been identified.

Despite wearing his seat belt, Oswald Caines was mortally injured during the crash. Caines was taken to Tampa Memorial for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

As a result of the aftermath from the crash traffic for the morning commute was snarled for hours as crews and authorities worked to restore normal operations.
